2015-10-04 8

Yamaha unveiled its latest scooter offering christened the NMAX. The new scooter has been developed as a global scooter and was launched in Indonesia first. The styling of the Yamaha NMAX is similar to a maxi scooter and features a European style step thru design. Powering the new Yamaha scooter is a 155cc, liquid-cooled motor producing 15PS of power and 14.4 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel via a CVT transmission. The Yamaha NMAX sports Blue Core technology that first debuted in the Indian market on the Yamaha FZ-S FI Version 2.0. The Blue Core tech reduces friction between mating parts thereby returning better fuel efficiency.
Talking about features the scooter features a smoked out headlamp, digital instrument console, external fuel cap, telescopic forks, large 13-inch alloy wheels. Braking is done by disc brakes at front and rear while ABS is standard. Since the Yamaha NMAX is a global product we can expect it to land on our shores as Hero also plans to launch the 150cc ZIR by late 2015. If the Yamaha NMAX does make its way to India it will be void many of the features due to cost cutting. As in its current guise the Yamaha NMAX has been priced at Rs 1.3 lakh in the Indonesian market. Yamaha is pitching this scooter directly at the Honda PCX125 which has been a top-seller for the last few years having been a huge seller across Europe and the UK too.
The overall style of the NMAX’s sporty bodywork owes a lot to the larger TMAX maxi-scooter.
